Simferopol, March 15 (Navigator, Astra Yazyka) – Official Kyiv with its latest decisions has put an end to relations with Crimea. This is how the leadership of the Supreme Council of the peninsula reacted to the decisions on the unconstitutionality of the all-Crimean referendum and the dissolution of the republican parliament.

The statement of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of Crimea emphasizes that as a result of the anti-constitutional coup, the Constitution of Ukraine was trampled upon, and the activities of the highest bodies of state power went beyond the constitutional and legal field.

“The so-called Constitutional Court of Ukraine, formed on March 13, 2014, hastily in violation of constitutional procedures, already on March 14, contrary to the procedure established by its own regulations, made a legally dubious decision in the case of holding a local referendum in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” it emphasizes statement of the Presidium of the Supreme Court.

In this regard, the leadership of the parliament of the republic recalls that the bearer of sovereignty and the only source of power in Ukraine is the people, and the expression of the people's will is carried out through elections, referendums and other forms of direct democracy. Therefore, any actions of the state, its organs or officials that lead to the usurpation of power that belongs exclusively to the people are unconstitutional and illegal.

“The decision of the Crimean parliament to hold an all-Crimean referendum is legitimate,” the Supreme Court is confident.

As for the decision of the Verkhovna Rada to dissolve the Crimean parliament, then, according to members of the presidium, “from a legal point of view, this decision is void,” since it was made without the conclusion of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on the parliament’s violation of the autonomy of the Constitution of Ukraine or the laws of Ukraine.

“If we talk about political consequences, we have to admit: with their decision, people’s deputies put an end to the relations between Crimea and mainland Ukraine,” the document emphasizes.
