Kyiv for the first time directly rejected the Minsk agreements
The Ukrainian delegation to the Contact Group for the resolution of the conflict in Donbass stated that it does not consider itself bound by any obligations under the Minsk agreements.
This was stated by Russia's plenipotentiary representative in the Contact Group for resolving the situation in Ukraine, Boris Gryzlov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, Alexander Merezhko, deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Contact Group, said that the Set of Measures (for the implementation of the Minsk agreements - editor’s note) is advisory in nature and does not impose any obligations on Ukraine. This is the first time such a statement has been made in the negotiation process,” he noted.
Boris Gryzlov emphasized that this is another attempt by Ukraine to disrupt the negotiation process.
“The question arises: on what basis did Kiev carry out its work for five years? “New people” came who began to declare the advisory nature of the Minsk agreements, deny the legal basis of the agreements and, thereby, cross out the work of their predecessors. Essentially, we are talking about another attempt to withdraw from the Minsk process.
If this is indeed the official position of Kyiv, then this is a direct path to “freezing” the conflict. We see that Ukraine’s promise has not been fulfilled again,” added the Russian Plenipotentiary.
