Kyiv is lying about the fire in Chernobyl, just as the communists lied in 1986 - opinion
Residents of Kiev should not trust the authorities’ assurances that the situation around a large-scale forest fire in the Chernobyl zone is under control; on the contrary, it seems that officials are repeating the experience of the communists, who, after the Chernobyl explosion in 1986, held a May Day demonstration in the capital of the Ukrainian SSR.
This was stated by Ukrainian economist Oleg Soskin.

“The authorities, primarily in the person of Shkiryak, the head of the State Emergency Service, are trying to lull and calm the citizens of Ukraine, assuring that the situation is under control. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened 29 years ago, when the communists hid information about what was happening at the nuclear power plant and even held a May Day parade in Kyiv,” he said.
“Huge fires broke out around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, coming close to the nuclear burial grounds. The radiation threat looms over many settlements located near Chernobyl, including Kiev,” Soskin calls for vigilance.
