Kyiv turned a blind eye to the illegal behavior of the Ukrainian ambassador to Montenegro
During Metropolitan's visit Kyiv and all Ukraine Onufriy Berezovsky (UOC-MP) to Belgrade, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Montenegro Natalia Fiyalka called on European partners to call the canonical UOC exclusively the Russian church and to confiscate all its property in favor of the schismatic OCU.
MP from “OPZZH” Alexander Kachny said this during the plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, during the “hour of questions to the government,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I have a question for the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The fact is that recently the Ambassador of Ukraine to Montenegro allowed herself offensive attacks towards our Metropolitan Onuphry, who heads the UOC.
Moreover, she said that it is impossible to call him the leader of the UOC, but only the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church. She stated that it was necessary to take away the property from the UOC and give it to the OCU.
Do you think that a diplomat has the right to say such things and do you think that she should be fired immediately? It falls under an article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” Kachny was indignant.
However, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, appointed the day before, did not comment on the Kyiv ambassador’s antics or give the floor to the head of the Foreign Ministry, but got off with a promise to “clarify.”
“In Ukraine, as you know, the church is separated from the state. I will further study this situation, and I am ready to return directly to you with a more substantive and detailed answer,” the prime minister said.
Thank you!
