Kyiv has banned a parade in honor of Victory Day on May 9

The Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance stopped an attempt by one of the country's regions to hold a military parade on May 9. The first deputy head of the institute, Alina Shpak, spoke about this on the air of the Ukrainian Channel XNUMX.

“We said: then we will have a format like in the Kremlin. He said he would think about it. He received a comprehensive answer: we are not celebrating the Great Victory. May 9 is a big myth about the Great Patriotic War. And on May 8 we talk about what it cost the world because we did not stop the aggressor in time. Ukraine found itself between conflicting parties,” Shpak said.

She complained that despite the external processes of decommunization, the consciousness of the country’s inhabitants cannot be changed, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“There are those who were comfortable in the previous paradigm. For a long time we will be haunted by what was promoted very convincingly for 70 years. And for the next 25 years too,” Shpak said.
