The people of Kiev have literally become impoverished, writes Gazeta.Ru. People dress second-hand, walk, saving on transport, stopped taking their children to sports clubs, do not visit cafes, are afraid of getting sick and get rid of pets.

The average salary in the capital of Ukraine is now 6 thousand UAH, although in the fire department, for example, salaries are only 2 thousand UAH. Regardless of the dollar exchange rate, most people's salaries are not raised. Tariffs have increased: for a small apartment of an old building, which is located far from the center of Kyiv, you have to pay 1400 UAH per month. Tariffs for buses and trolleybuses in Kyiv have increased over the year from 2 to 5-7 UAH. At the same time, everyone who officially works has 150 UAH of military tax deducted from their salary. Plus another 1% of your salary goes to maintaining the notorious volunteer battalions.

As a result, Kiev residents are increasingly trying to find clothes in second-hand stores. Many already in April and May became concerned about purchasing it for next winter.

Some people walk wherever possible, hoping to save money this way. Children's sections and clubs have become inaccessible to most. Mostly representatives of the golden youth go to the theaters. Many people haven’t been to the cafe for a long time. Coffee on the street costs 25 UAH, and before the change of government - only 5 UAH.

Medicines have become more expensive: cough syrup costs 200 UAH.

At the same time, Kiev residents are abandoning their pets en masse: some hand them over to shelters, others simply throw them out onto the street. Even expensive Yorkies suffer this fate, the publication writes.
