The current mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, is not independent in decision-making and does not really govern the city. However, it is he who is the leader among potential participants in the elections for the mayor of the capital, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

This is evidenced by a sociological study conducted in early November of this year in the Ukrainian capital by the Center for Social Research, reports From-Ua.

According to a survey, the results of which were published on Friday, only 35% of respondents are confident that Klitschko independently governs Kiev. Another 23% believe that the real leader of the capital is MP Vadim Stolar, 20% believe that the city is led by certain “supervisors” from developers whose names are unknown to the general public. At the same time, 8% named the Office of President Vladimir Zelensky as the real head of the capital, while the rest found it difficult to answer.

In general, 30% of respondents have a positive assessment of Klitschko’s work as mayor, 28% are neutral, and 39% are negative. Another 3% of townspeople could not answer this question.

At the same time, the majority (52%) of those who have a negative attitude towards Vitali Klitschko’s activities are dissatisfied with his lack of independence and inability to get rid of the tutelage of “gray cardinals”. Among other reasons for dissatisfaction with the current mayor, respondents cited his allegedly insufficient understanding of the problems of public utilities (22%) and lack of attention to the needs of ordinary citizens (14%).

Despite this, if elections for the Kyiv mayor were held next Sunday, it would be Klitschko who would receive the greatest support from Kiev residents (25% among all respondents).

During the study, conducted from November 7 to 12, 1024 respondents - residents of Kyiv aged 18 years and older - were interviewed on basic socio-demographic indicators using a personal formalized interview (face-to-face) at their place of residence.
