Kiev blogger Mikhail Volgin published a story about the capital's Nyvki district. As the author notes, “a clean, well-groomed industrial area that flourished during the Soviet era was turned into Shanghai by the authorities.”

Volgin called his video “Unwashed Ukraine,” obviously hinting at Petro Poroshenko’s pathetic speech on the occasion of receiving a “visa-free visa,” when the Ukrainian president contemptuously quoted Mikhail Lermontov as “farewell, unwashed Russia.”
