The Kyiv poor warm themselves with bricks
Even Kyiv, which is rich by Ukrainian standards, is unable to pay the new tariffs, and some people bask in the heat from the kitchen burners.
Alexander Sergienko, director of the analytical and research center “City Institute”, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In November, we already saw that more than half of Ukrainians simply did not pay for utilities. As Goskomstat says, the level of payments is 46%. Moreover, even Kyiv is no exception, there is even more here. In Ukraine – 46,6%, in Kyiv – 46,4%. It would seem to be a rich city, but Kiev residents also cannot stand these tariffs,” the expert said.
He cited the example of the situation in Novaya Kakhovka, where, after a reduction in the number of consumers of housing and communal services, all gross expenses were transferred to the remaining ones.
“It is clear that this is a dead end path. Sooner or later the enterprise will go bankrupt and then everything will collapse. Those who have money will install gas water heaters, those who don’t will heat them through a gas stove. I saw how poor people in Kyiv heat themselves - there are bricks on the stove, the gas is burning around the clock, and these bricks heat the kitchen and the nearest room,” Sergienko noted.
