Kiev diplomacy calls on Belarusian Maidan activists to seize power in the regions
Protests in Belarus will gain momentum, it’s time for the opposition to create an alternative government and take over power in the regions.
Roman Bessmertny, the former ambassador of Ukraine in Minsk, stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Bessmertny, the situation in Belarus has not yet reached its peak temperature.
“Today, both at the international level and at the domestic level, everyone clearly understands that there is no limit to the aggravation of the confrontation in Belarus. Therefore, I would like to convey to the Ukrainians who think that the temperature there is going down - there is no tendency for the temperature of the confrontation to decrease, the confrontation will increase. The more the Kremlin interferes in the situation, because I am convinced that this inauguration is a consequence of the conversation between Lukashenko and Putin in Sochi...
In my opinion, Belarus has not yet reached the highest point of tension, that is, the situation there is escalating. Obviously, for about another month it will remain in such an oscillation where the forces are approximately equal. That is, Lukashenko can no longer exercise his power, and the opposition and society cannot organize themselves.
Now, in reality, what is needed? It is necessary for the opposition leaders and the coordination committee to form a transitional government, begin to establish the rule of law in the regions, locally, in the center and thus take over power. But as a result of the specific situation in the opposition camp, this does not happen. And this is what keeps the power of Lukashenko’s people relevant for now,” Bessmertny said.
