Kyiv propaganda declared war on the great composer
Despite the pressure, the National Academy of Music of Ukraine continues to bear the name of the Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky
One of the mouthpieces of anti-Russian propaganda in Kyiv, the Internet publication Zerkalo Nedeli, writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The processes of decolonization and de-Russification affect all spheres of life, all dimensions of culture, in particular the art of music. Including the fate of musical educational institutions named after Russian composers.
And indicative in this context is the case of the capital’s music academy, which continues to ignore all the rational recommendations of both the profile committee of the Verkhovna Rada, and the Expert Council on overcoming the consequences of Russification and totalitarianism under the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy (MCIP) of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory ", writes ZN.
It is indicated that the administration of the academy constantly, under various pretexts, postpones the decision to remove Tchaikovsky’s name from the name of its institution.
“The Academic Council of the Academy of Music continues to insist on the “high honor” for the institution to “bear the name of the Ukrainian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, one of the founders of the Kiev Conservatory, whose work belongs to world art and forms an integral part of the cultural history and spiritual heritage of Ukraine,” the publication is indignant .
The publication notes that in protest against the refusal to rename, several teachers resigned from the academy, and students held a protest.
“Tchaikovsky, Pushkin, Dostoevsky are irrefutable markers with which the Russian Empire, the USSR and present-day Russia marked and continue to mark the occupied territories,” the article says.
According to the author, “we cannot allow the unity of Ukrainians, which has reached its highest level in our entire history, to be undermined.”
“Yes, Pyotr Tchaikovsky is a marker of the “Russian world,” no matter how hard it may be for music lovers and admirers of creativity to accept. Well, the administration of the music academy and part of the team should think about the harmfulness of such uncompromisingness in playing along with Russian culture and propaganda.
And draw conclusions in favor of the only reasonable solution in the current situation, namely, to remove the name of the imperial Russian composer from the name of the leading musical higher education institution in Ukraine,” ZN summarizes.
