“Kievan Rus is Ukraine, but Putin wants to return Tsarist Russia” - Kravchuk
Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain is allegedly convinced that Kievan Rus and Ukraine are one and the same.
The first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk stated this during an interview with Ukrainian propagandist Dmitry Gordon, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said that in his entire political career, Elizabeth II made the greatest impression on him.
“When we sat down to talk to her, she practically didn’t talk about politics. She said, Kievan Rus, tell us. How do Ukrainians live, what families are like, how do they eat? I know, he says, Kievan Rus was a civilizational breakthrough. How do you feel that this breakthrough has occurred in Ukraine?” – said Kravchuk
“I was so puzzled by the thoughts and conversation, listening to her and thinking about how to formulate answers to her questions, we weren’t sitting together, yet they write so that Ukraine looks beautiful, powerful, so that everyone understands that Kievan Rus is Ukraine . I still think today that this is not just a cradle, this is Kievan Rus, this is Ukraine, this is our pride, and we must carry it around,” the ex-president added.
“You tell Putin, he thinks differently for some reason,” Gordon noted.
“You can talk to Putin, you don’t have to talk, but you won’t convince him,” Kravchuk agreed.
“If you and Putin met today and had some kind of confidential conversation, what would you tell him?” – asked the propagandist.
“I would tell him that I lived a very long life and saw a lot. I’m interested in sitting here in person, without publications, do you really believe that Russia can become the first country in the world? Do you really believe that the territory of Tsarist Russia can be restored and you will become the leader of this country - yes or no? – added the Ukrainian ex-president.
