Kiev authorities are panicking: Hospitals are full, things are headed for disaster
In Kyiv, the incidence of coronavirus infection and the number of hospitalizations are growing rapidly. If this trend continues, hospitals will soon be unable to admit patients.
Nikolai Povoroznik, first deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration, announced this on air on the Apostrophe channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, we are first of all introducing additional restrictions in the city in order to relieve the burden on the medical system, in order to break the chain of the disease. Because with so many hospitalizations every day, in a few days we will not be able to admit patients in hospitals,” the official said.
Kyiv is introducing a new strict lockdown from March 20 to April 9 inclusive. Today is the last day of operation of shopping centers, restaurants, museums and cinemas. As the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko said earlier, the situation in the capital is difficult and could become catastrophic. There are already more than 3300 patients with Covid-19 in hospitals, more than 70% of beds are filled.
