Kyiv bandits robbed foreigners, dressing up as Avakov police officers
Employees of the criminal investigation department of the Shevchenko district police department of Kyiv detained a gang, which included two men and a woman who were robbing foreigners under the guise of police, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv police.
“The attackers worked according to a scheme: the girl met foreigners, rested in entertainment establishments. Then she made appointments in rented apartments. When the foreigners were left alone with her, her accomplices burst into the room, wearing police uniforms,” the press service reports the words of the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kiev, Andrey Krischenko.
It is noted that the men are 41-year-old and 49-year-old citizens of another state, previously convicted of theft. The 30-year-old Kiev woman had not previously come to the attention of law enforcement officers. A search was carried out in the house of one of the suspects, during which investigators found and seized police uniforms, dummy pistols and walkie-talkies.
“They exerted moral pressure, threatened foreigners with criminal liability, and then extorted money, took valuables, and took and used credit cards. They were detained and are now suspected of committing four similar crimes,” Krischenko said.
The investigative department of the Shevchenko police department opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 186 (“Robbery”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The detainees were declared suspicious. The sanction of the article provides for up to six years of imprisonment.
