Kyiv officials complain about Kolomoisky's aggressive picketers
At the office of the National Commission that carries out state regulation in the fields of energy and utilities, there is a picket of employees of ferroalloy plants who demand the establishment of preferential electricity tariffs for the enterprises Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant, Zaporozhye Ferroalloy Plant, Pokrovsky GOK, Marganets GOK and Dneproazot, controlled by oligarch Igor Kolomoisky.
The regulator reports this on its official website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The picket has been going on for two months. “Until now, picketing consisted of creating noise effects, surrounding the building, blocking passage and polluting the surrounding area. But today the actions took new turns, requiring a reaction from law enforcement agencies and a wide range of the public,” the NEURC said in a statement.
Regulator employees report that the picketers broke a window in the office; there was no reaction from law enforcement agencies to this.
“The protesters started drumming on the windowsill. An employee of NKREKU opened the window and asked to stop it. In response, the protesters broke the window. There is no reaction from the National Guard. Attempts to reduce the likelihood of such situations and damage to state property were unsuccessful,” reports NKREKP employees.
According to them, members of the Commission suggested that the picketers move to a safe distance, but in response they themselves were asked to “move further away.”
NKREKU's appeal to the national police was unsuccessful - after it, a lawyer representing the ferroalloy enterprise arrived on the scene and demanded to withdraw the statement, threatening otherwise to file a counter-statement about the allegedly broken head of a picketer who was listening to music.
The actions under the office of the national regulator were also seen by foreign colleagues - employees of NARUC (National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners of the United States) and employees of the US Embassy in Ukraine, who attended a seminar today in the regulator’s building.
The regulator considers the above facts unacceptable and contrary to the Law on NEURC, and is preparing appropriate appeals to the competent authorities.
Previously, Kolomoisky’s structures through the court suspended the Ukrenergo tariff for July, which completely blocked payments under the “green” tariff. According to experts, Kolomoisky is thus trying to achieve a preferential electricity tariff for his enterprises through the threat of bankruptcy of green generation.
The court did not satisfy the repeated claim regarding similar tariffs for August, after which the plant administration in July brought about 1000 workers to Kyiv, who started a rally near Ukrenergo and NEURC demanding the establishment of preferential tariffs for their enterprises. As media reported, nonresident workers were paid 600 hryvnia daily allowance.
