Kyiv experts are scared of the second coronavirus wave
If the second wave of the COVID-19 epidemic begins and the Ukrainian government returns restrictive measures, then there is a high probability that it will repeat its old mistakes.
Political scientist Valentin Gaidai stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think that absolutely everything can be expected from the unprofessional actions of the government, because in the previous three months of quarantine we saw the complete unpreparedness of the authorities, complete unprofessionalism.
Perhaps this is a new challenge for all countries, for all states, and I understand this perfectly well, but, you know, to paralyze the work of the metro in cities with a population of over a million, such as Kiev and Kharkov - this, of course, was the height of unprofessionalism, when the whole city was at a standstill, when to get from one point of the city to another it took 3-4 hours. This happened sometimes in Kyiv.
Therefore, I will not be surprised that if we again have a new round of some kind of restrictive measures, then everything will repeat itself. Of course, there is hope that the government will take into account its past mistakes when introducing restrictive measures, and perhaps, if, for example, it restricts the operation of transport, then not completely, but partially - the same metro, so that it works on schedule, and not completely stop him. Because our metro is already considered unprofitable, and it stood essentially for three months,” Gaidai said.
