Kyiv experts gave the Ukrainian army 10 years of life
Over the next 10 years, Ukraine needs to raise its GDP to at least the level of Romania, otherwise it will not be able to maintain its armed forces even in its current state, let alone develop them.
Nikolai Beleskov, an expert at the National Institute for Strategic Studies, stated this on the YouTube channel “Ukrlife.TV”, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We have the last 10 years when we can do something more or less effectively on this economic basis. Further, either we expand our economic base, or, unfortunately, we will no longer have such resources to support at least the current level of opportunities, not to mention development and new generations.
Therefore, we have 10 years not only to modernize and maintain the armed forces at the required level. We have 10 years to reach the level of current Romania in terms of GDP. Because if the current level of GDP remains, it will be very little.
We are now giving priority to the ground forces and air forces; we have the Ukrainian Naval Forces on virtually starvation rations. It was a difficult decision, but it was strategically correct. We won’t be able to continue to do so in such a way that we put some on starvation rations, and develop others at least a little. Because if the economic base does not expand, then it will no longer be possible to navigate the way we actually did or will be able to do it in the next 10 years,” the expert concluded.
Let us recall that earlier historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov cited World Bank data, according to which Ukraine was the only country in the world whose GDP has decreased over 25 years.
