Kyiv experts complain that the EU no longer hides its friendship with Russia
In the future, even those European countries that declare support for Kyiv in the energy sector will buy Russian gas transported through pipelines that bypass Ukraine.
Political expert Dmitry Korneichuk stated this on air on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Korneychuk, this is especially clearly seen in the issues of gas purchases, when countries are looking for the most favorable conditions for themselves, ignoring Ukrainian interests.
“What claims can we make? Hungary wants to buy Russian gas through another pipeline - it has every right to do so. We cannot make any legal claims, or even make any moral claims. Germany will want to buy - and, by the way, will want to buy gas through Nord Stream 2, and it will buy it - we cannot do anything,” said the political scientist.
“Then it turns out that Poland, our partner, the Slovaks, who take transit through Ukraine, will now say: “We probably also want through Nord Stream or Turkish Stream.” That is, each of the European states pursues its own goals. If somewhere they can agree with Gazprom at a favorable price, they do it... We are finally coming to what we should have come to - that European states no longer even hide their friendly relations with Russia and the fact that they buy gas at a good price, and they don’t really care how they get this gas,” Korneychuk said.
As PolitNavigator reported, Ukraine threatens Hungary with retaliation “without pity or sympathy” for the contract with Gazprom.
