Kyiv grant-eaters complain that the number of Euroskeptics is growing in Ukraine
If a year ago the number of Eurosceptics in Ukraine was up to 25 percent, now there are a third of such people in the country.
Director of the New Europe Center Alena Getmanchuk stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The level of Euroscepticism is increasing, not least thanks to populist politicians, whose theses are dominated by the idea that we should be on our own - neither with Europe, nor with Russia, we are self-sufficient, or vice versa - we are not needed in Europe. If we look, a year ago, six months, then the people who were in favor of a relatively neutral status were up to a maximum of 25 percent, and recent polls show that they are already a third of the population of Ukraine, who believe that the country should not move either to the EU or to the Eurasian Union,” said Getmanchuk.
“Of course, many of these politicians have such camouflaged pro-Russianism. Because in the situation in which Ukraine finds itself, it is very difficult to maintain neutrality without harming our national interests. Therefore, our task during regional trips is to convince that the alternatives to the European choice are worse,” added the “European integrator.”
