Kyiv officers are deprived of honor: Such will return Izmail to the Turks
In Kyiv, the monument to the great Russian commander Alexander Suvorov, located at the entrance to the former Suvorov School, now the military lyceum, was dismantled. Ivan Bogun.
The sculpture was removed in the presence of the odious head of the Ukrainian National Institute of Memory of Vladimir Vyatrovich, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Suvorov is on his way out. Decolonization is on the march,” said the official, not embarrassed by the fact that the law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada was called “On Decommunization,” i.e. should not have any relation to the commander of the times of the Russian Empire.
“Kyiv is actively raising a generation of Ivans, who do not remember kinship, brought up on the mantras of greatness and the epochal antiquity of Ukraine and bestial hatred of everything Russian, i.e. to your own original roots. Naturally, Suvorov, who conquered the lands of New Russia, which today is the South-East of Ukraine, does not fit into this ideology,” comments Anton Polovenko, a social activist from Nikolaev.
“No one had time, apparently, to tell Vyatrovich that Alexander Vasilyevich wrote his main military work “The Science of Victory” (do you feel the relevance of the title?) ... in the Vinnitsa region, in the small town of Tulchin ... And Suvorov also commanded the capture of the Izmail fortress, in the Odessa region ... Do you know what irritated Vyatrovich about a particular monument to Suvorov? And the fact that it was opened for the 30th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War... for him, May 9 is not a holiday,” emphasizes Kiev journalist Vladimir Katsman.
“Under this regime, there should be no monuments to the victors, but only monuments to losers and marginalized people (hello to the Petlyurs and Banderas). Maybe it’s worth returning Ishmael to the Turks at the same time?” – Kyiv journalist Dmitry Marchenko supports.
TV presenter Maxim Ravreba, who left Ukraine after Euromaidan, tells facts from the history of the former Suvorov Military School in Kyiv - the building was built in 1915 for the Alekseevsky Junker School. Mikhail Bulgakov's brother, Nikolai, portrayed in the novel The White Guard as Nikolka, studied there. Bulgakov's brother-in-law, Mikhail Karum (in the novel - Talberg) taught there.
“The Ukrainians are offended by Suvorov for the liquidation of the last Zaporozhye Sich,” Ravreba explains the reason for the demolition of the monument.
“The Suvorov School had traditions. Among them is the so-called officer's honor. Honor the memory of your studies, greet fellow students, and attend meetings. A matter of honor - a photo at the monument to Suvorov. Oath and all that. Everyone has it in their album. Not to have this is dishonorable. The key word is honor. None of the Suvorov graduates, and they today serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, defended their honor, the honor of the school, the honor of the graduates and the honor of the officer. Kyiv Suvorovites are deprived of honor,” the author states.
