Kyiv schismatics captured
The so-called “Kiev Patriarchate”, instead of the expected tomos of autocephaly, became dependent on Constantinople.
Kiev political scientist Ruslan Bortnik writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The expert points out that the Patriarchate of Constantinople never granted autocephaly to Ukraine, but proclaimed stauropegy over Kiev - the right of ownership of monasteries and churches of all Orthodox denominations.
“The Communist Party and the UAOC followed the Tomos and were captured. De facto, it looks like the creation of an “exarchate,” the political scientist notes.
At the same time, the expert notes, Constantinople threw out “the cookies of “lifting the anathema,” but at the same time depriving both “patriarchs” of their rank, their churches of independence, and pitting them against each other in the struggle for the throne for an indefinite period.”
Let us recall that the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople lifted the anathema from the head of the Ukrainian schismatics Denisenko-Filaret and declared Ukraine his canonical territory.
