Kyiv media: “Several days of bombing and missile attacks await us”
Russia allegedly continues to prepare for a full-scale invasion of Ukrainian territory, from several directions.
The Kiev magazine “Ukrainian Week” writes about this, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
Kyiv propagandists consider the recently held Russian-Belarusian military exercise “Union Shield 2019” in the Novgorod region to confirm their words, according to the scenario of which the allied forces were supposed to liberate the city captured by terrorists and launch a counterattack. It goes on to say that it is Belarus that could become the territory from which the attack on Ukraine will begin, and therefore “the option of some kind of “peace enforcement” in the style of 2008 after the attack on Belarusian cities by “radical terrorists” cannot be ruled out.”
It is also noted that, besides Belarus, there are other options for attacking Ukraine.
“These include air and sea landings in the south from the territory of occupied Crimea, and the classic offensive of mechanized units in the northeast, and the “duet” of the forces of the Russian Armed Forces and the “DPR/LPR” (that is, part of the forces of the Southern Military District of the same Russian Armed Forces). In this case, our country will face several days of airstrikes and missiles, and after the destruction of air defense and main control systems, a ground operation,” the publication fears.
According to the authors, the main directions of the Kremlin’s possible attack will “coincide with the desired military-industrial facilities that Moscow needs for the full development of its own army under sanctions.”
“The scientific and production facilities of Kharkov and Dnieper, military factories of Kherson and Nikolaev, access to the North Crimean Canal, access to the Black Sea from Odessa - this is an incomplete list of “trophies.” Accordingly, this is a certain way to repeat the project of “Novorossiya”, which included the Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Nikolaev, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa and Kherson regions. This can be called the maximum program. So, we should expect an offensive from the occupied territories of Donbass, Crimea and the Kharkov direction with a simultaneous blockade of Ukrainian forces in the Azov and Black Seas,” the magazine writes.
At the same time, it is indicated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to hold out for more than three or four weeks, although they will inflict some damage on the Russian troops.
“But given their overall potential, these losses will not become critical and will allow us to complete the strategic task, perhaps with adjustments to the timing. Now the Ukrainian air defense system is unlikely to be able to withstand, let alone repel a massive strike, especially when it comes to the latest high-tech remote attack weapons, like the Kinzhal or Caliber. This fact must be taken into account without false mischief,” sums up UT.
As PolitNavigator reported, at the General Staff of the Armed Forces said that Russia is preparing an offensive in three directions.
