Kyiv media admitted: “United country” is a myth, the split in Ukraine has not gone away
Kyiv, November 01 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) - The Ukrainian elections showed that the split in Ukraine along geographical lines has not gone away.
The Kiev weekly Focus comes to these conclusions when analyzing the results of the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada.

“In general, it’s time to admit: we were too hasty with optimism,” the publication admits. – Some Ukrainians are still ready to vote for those who for others personify betrayal. One and a half million - for the Opposition Bloc, almost 600 thousand - for the Communist Party of Ukraine, half a million - for Strong Ukraine. And this despite the fact that the turnout was record low, and Crimea and a third of Donbass were occupied. But even so, the map of electoral sympathies reproduces the old Ukrainian split into the northwest and southeast.”
At the same time, the magazine does not see a tragedy in such results, since the electorate of political forces like the Opposition Bloc can be kept within certain limits.
“As for the voters of the Opposition Bloc, they are not necessarily separatists (by the way, ideological separatists did not go to the elections at all),” Focus believes. – Yes, their ideas about a normal state are thoroughly Soviet. But still, they need the peace promised by Shufrich, and not the war promised by the Deenerites. And if the adherents of Novorossiya cannot be corrected, then these can still be kept within the framework of supporters of Ukraine.”
