Kyiv media urges not to succumb to Western pressure

“All those who are in power and in power today are united in their support for the policies of Russian President Vladimir Putin towards Kiev, as well as are convinced that the Minsk agreements must be implemented in such a way that Ukraine again turns into a Russian satellite, with the likely change of the current government and the entire Ukrainian political elite, which came to power after the overthrow of Viktor Yanukovych,” the publication notes.
“The marginal Russian liberal opposition represented by Yabloko and PARNAS, of course, does not count here. If any disagreements exist among the Russian elite regarding Ukraine, they are purely tactical in nature. It is quite possible that some Russian generals, and it is possible that Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu himself, are still dreaming of a blitzkrieg against Ukraine, during which they hope to defeat the Ukrainian army and install their own puppets in Kiev,” the newspaper writes.
At the same time, the publication states that refusal to implement Minsk will lead to Russia’s defeat in the long term.
“Actually, the only thing that is required from the Ukrainian authorities today is not to succumb to Russian and Western pressure, remembering that the West will not push too hard, and it will not come to the point of large-scale Russian military intervention. And then the Kremlin’s strategy will inevitably fail in the long term,” The Day assures.
