Two years after the creation of the Patriarchate of Constantinople from Ukrainian schismatics of the OCU under the patronage of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, the new formation failed to gain popularity in Ukrainian society.

The author of the article proposes to abandon such a measure of the “success of the OCU” as transitions from the UOC and recognition by canonical Orthodox churches.

“The problem is not that “they don’t pass on enough” and “they don’t recognize enough.” And the fact is that learned helplessness is formed in the OCU - after all, recognition and even transitions depend little on it. The Church waits for favors from outside instead of taking action. And if this were the plan of its opponents, one could say that their plan was a success: the Ukrainian church, while it remains a “church in waiting,” is still an object, not a subject,” the publication notes.

It is also recognized that the OCU has failed to communicate with society.

“The failure of mass communication is one of the problems that the OCU not only has not solved, but, it seems, does not even consider it necessary to correct anything. The gap between church and society remains and even seems to be guarded like some kind of sacred border. Apparently, the psychology of isolationism ate deeper into the former hierarchs of the former UOC-KP than they wanted.

But a holy place is never empty - instead of messages that are interesting and beneficial to the church, the airwaves are filled with damned questions “how much do you have?” The very posing of these questions hints at the fact that we “don’t have enough” - because there will always be someone who has more. A breeding ground for the growth of doubts and an inferiority complex arises,” the author sums up.
