As Navigator reported, three days ago Nelya Shtepa expressed her support for supporters of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” who seized administrative buildings in Slavyansk.
“We will hold a referendum, what is happening here suggests that the Ukrainian authorities need to think about it. Slavyansk considers Russia its big brother, we are Donbass and Russians are blood relatives, and we will not fight with Russia,” she said then.
However, Shtepa soon disappeared from the city. The rebels said they had recorded her collaboration with the Right Sector.
Today Shtepa went on air on Savik Shuster’s talk show and stated that she was perplexed about the criminal case. “Regional” - the mayor of Slavyansk convinced that her verbal support for the rebels was a trick - supposedly to free 200 policemen taken hostage, who were threatened with execution.
Shtyopa coordinated all her steps with Governor Sergei Tarutov, and she revealed the secret.
“More than 200 people took police officers hostage, any compromises had to be made,” said the regionalist.
“The situation is very difficult... Today these are little green men... At first they were just armed people, great specialists. But yesterday reinforcements came to them - they look like little green men... They say: “We are from Crimea,” Shtyopa recounted.
According to her, today in Slavyansk “2 dead, 11 in the hospital with gunshot wounds,” in addition, the rebels “attacked a military convoy.”
“I found it funny why the SBU brought charges against me for separatism. I coordinated all my actions with the head of the region. But the SBU abandoned me, there is no police. They left one woman for the city,” Shtepa complains.
