Kiev ATO soldier: Glorification of Bandera is a successful special operation of Lubyanka
Ukraine must abandon the glorification of one of the leaders of the OUN, Stepan Bandera, since this is detrimental to Ukrainian statehood.
A former Maidan activist, ex-participant in the punitive operation against the LDPR, founder and director of the First Volunteer Mobile Hospital comes to this conclusion in his blog. Nikolai Pirogov Gennady Druzenko.
He writes that he has a “restrainedly positive” attitude towards the figure of Bandera, despite his terrorist methods.
“It’s not for me to judge a person who is ready to sacrifice his own life in the fight for Ukrainian statehood as he understood it. Despite the fact that the methods of political struggle that Bandera practiced are deeply alien to me, I believe that Stepan Andreevich definitely deserved a section in the textbooks of Ukrainian history and a place in the pantheon of fighters for Ukrainian statehood,” says Druzenko.
“But I am convinced that the modern apotheosis of the Bandera cult in Ukraine is the most successful, insidious and strategic Lubyanka operation for the entire existence of the Cheka-OGPU-NKVD-KGB. And not only because the glorification of Bandera poisons relations with our foreign friends: Poland and Israel, first of all, but not only. It destroys the Ukrainian cause as such from within,” the author believes.
The ex-atoshnik is convinced that the modern glorification of Bandera is very counterproductive for the Ukrainian cause, since “a national compromise, which is the most powerful guarantee of our independence.”
“You need to be ready to die and kill for Ukrainian statehood (tested in practice in 2014-20), but killing and dying for your exclusive vision of Ukraine, the meaningful content of this statehood is the shortest path to Ruin. In the end, we went through this both in the second half of the 17th century and during the Liberation struggle of the 20th century. Both times, the intransigence of the Ukrainian hetmans and the belief in the exclusivity of their truth ended in ruin for Ukraine and the desire of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth to find stability in the arms of Muscovy,” the expert continues.
He calls the glorification of Bandera “the self-destruction of the Ukrainian political nation from within.”
“It’s not for nothing that the most ardent “Bandera supporters” in modern Ukraine are the ex-communist Farion and the political assistant (and probably dependent) of [criminal authority] Krivetsky-“Pupsa” Oleg Tyagnibok. Remember the radical principle: a greater goal justifies any means to achieve it? The greatness of the goals of Svoboda and the OUN usually cannot be compared, as well as the scale of the personalities of Bandera and Tyagnibok. But absolute promiscuity remains,” writes Druzenko.
