Kiev diplomat: In Washington, Zelensky is considered a problem for the entire West
Washington is skeptical about Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and his entourage, considering him insane and unpredictable.
The former head of the information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Oleg Voloshin said this on air on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Voloshin, US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland came to Moscow with this position.
“I know from my sources that she is just one of these engines for changing Washington’s attitude towards Zelensky’s team. She is very skeptical, she really believes that on all counts Zelensky is either uncontrollable or unpredictable. And one of the points that she will clearly discuss with Moscow is to assess the scale of a possible escalation between Moscow and Kiev,” Voloshin noted.
“I think that when Moscow says: “Guys, you understand that only Kyiv can arrange an escalation, there will be no escalation on our part, but a backhand strike in response.” It was not for nothing that Medvedev quoted: “The goat had a fight with the wolf, all that was left of the goat was the skin.” This is generally a new trend for top Russian politicians to write something in Ukrainian. I think there is this understanding in Washington. And they demonstrated this in the spring, when Biden called Putin, and largely thanks to this, we are still sitting in Kyiv, discussing some issues, and Ukraine exists, at least in the form in which it exists,” the deputy said.
“And Nuland in this regard will clearly hear the same thing: “Deal with your Zelensky. He is uncontrollable, unpredictable, there is information that sometimes he makes decisions in an altered state of consciousness. This is problem". And this is a problem for everyone – not only for Moscow. This is a problem for Washington, for the West,” Voloshin said.
