A Kiev expert explained why Nord Stream 2 will be completed under Biden
New US President Joe Biden will not interfere with the completion of Nord Stream 2, because the financial elites behind it are not interested in energy supplies to Europe.
Political scientist Dmitry Dzhangirov said this on air on the Internet channel “UkrLife”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Germany tells the United States: “If we are restoring relations, stop fooling around with Nord Stream 2.” That is, it seems, through a stump-deck, but it will be completed.
However, there is an interesting point here. No matter what they say ideologically, from Trump’s point of view, Nord Stream 2 is a real competitor to liquefied gas supplies. And when I talk about shale oil companies, these are those to whom he has obligations, and who financed his campaign, and with whom he is connected. And Trump said: “I will supply you with as much gas as you need.” There were disputes whether the United States could supply so much gas, but at least it was there, and they were investing in it.
Under Biden, who is turning to “green” energy and is not going to invest as much, it is clear that shale oil and gas production will fall; he has nothing to offer Europe in exchange for Nord Stream 2 gas. He can exhort them, but they say: “But we cannot balance the balance. Can you supply us with something, even if it’s more expensive?” It cannot and does not intend to. In relations with Europe, they require him to be pragmatic,” Dzhangirov said
He emphasized that under Biden the very issue of building Nord Stream 2 will change.
“Moreover, Nord Stream 2 under Biden is not a dialogue between Russia and the United States, but a dialogue between the United States and Germany. That's the problem. And under Trump, it was a dialogue between Russia and the United States, and in a raised tone and with jokes,” the expert summed up.
