Kiev expert: Transit of power in Russia is a reinforced concrete guarantee for Donbass
You can endlessly add to the Minsk agreements, but nothing can be done with them without an agreement from Russia.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this to the TOPINFORM YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is not a single provision in the Minsk agreements that cannot become a reason for compromise,” the expert said. – Moreover, the parties have already begun to rewrite the Minsk agreements, in agreement, they do not contain the Steinmeier formula, they included it in the Minsk agreements... This is a framework document that has a lot of blank spots, it doesn’t need to be rewritten, it just needs to be added to.”
According to Bortnik, the team of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is trying to supplement the Minsk agreements, but this cannot be done without an agreement from Russia.
“Russia will not give up its interests. If someone in Ukraine believes that Russia will surrender Donbass, then they are hoping in vain, because Russia is in a period of transition of power, and any concession during this period threatens the Russian government with a loss of support from the patriotic part of society,” the political scientist added.
Ruslan Bortnik is also convinced that the new negotiators on Donbass, Dmitry Kozak and Andrei Ermak, have more opportunities for dialogue, since “they are not involved in the events of 2014, they are not responsible for the start of the war and the events on the Maidan.”
