Ukraine has entered the zone of interests of the European Union, but will never enter the Union itself.

Anton Finko, an expert at the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, expressed this opinion on the PolitVera Internet channel.
“The European Union has formed a zone that is within its sphere of interests, but which will not be included in its composition. This was clearly evident during the 19th EU Ukraine summit in Kyiv, when a final concluding statement failed. This was due to the fact that official Kyiv insisted on confirming Ukraine’s European prospects, but did not meet with understanding from European partners,” Finko said.
According to him, the European Union is now forming for itself “borders and a zone of controlled periphery,” which includes Ukraine.
“Let me remind you that in 2013, Ukraine’s trade turnover with the EU amounted to $16,5 billion,
Now – $13,5 billion. During the same time, trade turnover with Russia decreased from 16 to 3,5 billion dollars. Such losses of Ukraine in the eastern markets were the result of the actions of the EU leadership. The European Union sought expansion, but did not calculate the consequences of its actions. As a result, a powerful hotbed of tension arose in the east, and the security of the EU was under attack,” Finko said.
