Kyiv politician: “The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is hysterical. The Russian Federation has demonstrated its determination"
During the meeting between the presidents of the United States and Russia in Geneva, clear and precise answers to a number of questions were given to the whole world.
The founder of the Union of Left Forces party, Vasily Volga, spoke about this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The meeting between Biden and Putin will affect Ukraine very indirectly. And in general it is very difficult to talk about any specific results. A lot will depend not so much on the meeting itself, but on relations between the United States and Russia, and on the internal political situation in the United States, that is, on how Congress will behave. Everyone remembers how many good words were said at the meeting between Putin and Trump, but the result was a huge package of sanctions and a worsening of relations. So it’s too early to talk about any results of the meeting between Biden and Putin,” Volga believes.
“But I think it is important to note that the meeting took place as a result of Russia demonstrating its determination to defend its national interests. This is what caused Biden to ask for a meeting and the meeting took place,” says the politician.
“It is also important that for the first time in several years, clear and precise answers to a number of questions were given to the whole world. It seems to me that the main question that ran through the entire press conference was the question of the predictability or unpredictability of the actions of Russia and the United States. Putin indicated in his answer that it is the United States that demonstrates unpredictability by withdrawing from its treaty on the Iranian issue, unexpectedly withdrawing from the arms treaty, and so on,” our interlocutor added.
“And this position of Putin is very important for France and Germany. And as guarantors, France and Germany, I hope, will act more persistently in implementing the Minsk agreements. I assume that on their part the pressure on Ukraine will increase in order to implement the Minsk agreements. This is also supported by the nervous, hysterical behavior of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. I mean various kinds of statements by Kuleba. Therefore, I think that such pressure will be intensified. Well, there is some hope that a compromise will be sought on Donbass,” Volga said.
