The charges brought against the editor-in-chief of the opposition publication “Strana”, Igor Guzhva, who was detained yesterday, are purely formal. The authorities would have imprisoned him anyway, according to the principle “if there is a person, there will be an article.”

“There is an attack on freedom of speech, on independent media not controlled by the authorities. If this case had not been fabricated, then Guzhva would have been arrested in the same way, for example, for crossing the road on a red light, or for anything. In any case, it is clear that the initial task was to neutralize Guzhva, fabricate a case against him and discredit him. According to the same exact scenario, troubles can now be organized for other opponents of the regime,” the political scientist is sure.
