Kiev political scientist predicts dire consequences for Ukraine following the sabotage incident
A transnational “war party,” rather than the Ukrainian state, may be interested in escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, told PolitNavigator about this, commenting on the situation around the sabotage incident on the border with Crimea.
“Obviously, there is an escalation and, at the same time, discrediting of Ukraine in the eyes of Western partners,” the expert believes. – In any case, whether these events took place in this vein or not, it is obvious that the Minsk negotiation format has approached some kind of rubicon, after which either the Minsk agreements must be implemented, or some other forms of negotiations await us, or military escalation. It seems to me that the Minsk process has to some extent already ended. These events did not necessarily take place in this form, and the Ukrainian state did not necessarily have anything to do with them. It seems to me that the transnational “war party” as a whole and some of our Western partners may be interested in such an escalation.”
“But the consequences, of course, will be very difficult for the Minsk format of negotiations,” Bortnik predicts. – Somehow strangely everything coincided with the recall of the Russian ambassador and an attempt to appoint a new one. It is obvious that a new round of escalation is underway. And the Ukrainian state, it seems to me, is not yet ready for it.”
