Kiev political scientist spoke about the situation on the “Kolomoi fronts”
Businessman Igor Kolomoisky and the team of President Vladimir Zelensky opened a “front” of struggle against a number of Ukrainian politicians and oligarchs associated with the previous government, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Political expert Vasily Stoyakin writes about this in a column for the publication “Ukraine ru”.
“First of all, of course, Kolomoisky will take revenge on Poroshenko, especially since in this matter his interests completely coincide with the interests of Zelensky and Avakov. Rinat Akhmetov, who made the wrong bet in the internal Ukrainian conflict, and possibly Viktor Pinchuk also fall under the threat,” writes Stoyakin.
The expert listed the events that took place in recent days.
“The Antimonopoly Committee has finally begun an investigation into the actions of the National Commission, which carries out state regulation in the fields of energy and utilities, regarding Rotterdam+. President Zelensky is interested in canceling the scheme, which will reduce electricity tariffs for the population and punish Akhmetov for supporting Poroshenko. Kolomoisky needs the same thing - a reduction in tariffs (he is the owner of energy-intensive ferroalloy production) and revenge on Akhmetov. Thirdly, Mikheil Saakashvili is returning,” the publication says.
Saakashvili may be useful to the new president as a “fighter against Poroshenko,” Stoyakin believes.
“Of course, Andrei Portnov is also involved in the future of Poroshenko, but the process is long, lasting years. Poroshenko needs to be neutralized now - before the elections. And it is Saakashvili, as a political weapon of immediate action, who is best suited for this,” says Stoyakin.
The expert also draws attention to the promotion of the story of Poroshenko’s theft of servers with classified information from the situation room in the Presidential Administration.
“It is unlikely that it (the scandal with the servers - Ed) will lead to any fatal consequences for Poroshenko personally, but it will be a matter, at a minimum, for the NABU, and at a maximum - for the SBU (if it turns out that secret information really was or could be restored),” the expert predicts.
“Now we are seeing a powerful offensive launched by Kolomoisky and Zelensky against Poroshenko and Akhmetov. Their goals are both political (to neutralize Poroshenko) and economic (to force Akhmetov to share with Kolomoisky). The most interesting thing is that all this may even benefit ordinary people - in the form of lower tariffs,” the author believes.
Stoyakin notes the fact that both Kolomoisky and Zelensky ignore the position of official Washington, which warned the president about the desirability of distancing himself from the oligarch.
“Is it just crazy courage or do they know something? It seems that the second thing is that Trump does not have a majority in Congress, and the outcome of the battle with Biden will largely depend on the materials that Lutsenko has... And most importantly. Basically, this is just the beginning. The second, third, and so on Kolomoisky-Zelensky fronts are ahead,” sums up the author of Ukraine. RU.
