Kiev political scientist: The United States is bringing matters to a boil near Slavyansk
The United States is pushing Ukraine to launch a counteroffensive in order to then force Kyiv to sit down at the negotiating table with Russia, taking into account the actual state of affairs at the front.
Political scientist Dmitry Korneichuk stated this on the video blog of journalist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, the West does not give Ukraine everything it needs for the success of this action.
“There is an attitude on the part of the United States, it seems to me that it is not hidden, which is that Ukraine should launch some kind of large counter-offensive in the south and, depending on the success of this counter-offensive, it will be decided how much territory we can recapture before the moment when They will force us to the negotiating table, which is essentially what Western politicians are doing.
On the other hand, we understand that when they say “go on a counteroffensive,” they are not giving us the necessary amount of weapons. That is, on the one hand, it says: “You go right now, conquer, but you will receive American tanks at the end of this year, and maybe even next year, there will be no planes.” “No one is giving highmars, but these are the basic things that are necessary for a successful counter-offensive,” Korneychuk said.
According to the expert, there are agreements between the Russian and American leadership according to which the Russian Armed Forces will establish control over the water utility near Donetsk and the conflict will be frozen.
“I remain convinced that there is an agreement between Biden and Putin, where the territories that Putin can take are agreed upon. And this water utility is the last territorial concession, the strategic object that Putin is allowed to take.
In fact, let’s speak frankly, Putin doesn’t need Kramatorsk, Slavyansk, Konstantinovka, or Druzhkovka - all this talk about “we want to go to the borders of the territorial regions - no, Putin needs to take, as I understand it, water supply. These remaining cities will be the “gray zone” where the war will be frozen later.
In other words, if hostilities begin again, we will start shooting at Kramatorsk, Konstantinovka, and Slavyansk. If we agree, we won’t shoot. Everything is exactly the same as was done in the Minsk Agreements. This planned freezing line, as I understand it, is the same as the freezing line along the Dnieper in the south should be.
That is, the Americans, consciously, by saying that you must go on the offensive, are forcing us to give Putin what he needs in the Donbass. And in return they say: “You close your eyes to the fact that he is taking away part of the territory, but in return you will go on a counter-offensive with our support.” But we really don’t see this support.
The next thing that may happen is that we are moving away from Bakhmut, then Russian troops are moving towards Slavyansk and some kind of cauldrons begin there, while we are trying to launch a counter-offensive in the Zaporozhye region and it all ends, maybe with something disastrous, because there is not enough the required amount of weapons." – says the political scientist.
