Kiev political scientist: Ukraine was never able to create a united people
Ukrainian politicians, playing with historical and national issues, are splitting the society of their country.
Director of the Civil Diplomacy Foundation Anton Naychuk stated this during a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In Ukraine there is a great need to fundamentalize the Ukrainian nation as a single political body. Unfortunately, over 30 years of independence we have not reached this goal. Differences in the perception of certain pages of history, at the same time, the pluralism of cultural self-identification created difficulties in this process.
For example, topics such as language and historical heritage were often politicized and deliberately politicized by representatives of certain forces, which led to even greater disunity in Ukrainian society,” he said.
In addition, the political scientist noted that Ukrainian society was unable to achieve unity, and the actions of the Kyiv government are splitting it even more.
“This fragmentation of Ukrainian society shows that the unity of the Ukrainian people, unfortunately, has not happened at this stage and many problematic issues and points of confrontation still exist. We see a lot of problems that will hinder this unity.
Now we can say that the social policy of the government and the President’s Office has not fully justified itself, moreover, it has created additional prerequisites for society to further fragment,” Naichuk concluded.
