Kiev political scientist: the southeast will no longer elect presidents for Ukraine
Residents of the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine no longer determine the results of elections in Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Such an opinion expressed on Facebook political expert, director of the Center for Applied Political Science Dmitry Zaborin.
“Again, some energetic expert statement about the “single candidate of the southeast” and those who stand in his way caught my eye. Citizens, do not be naive, do not believe such statements. Those happy times when election results were decided in the southeast are over,” he said.
According to the political scientist, none of the potential candidates “simply mathematically will be able to gain a sufficient number of votes to win.”
“Not to mention the fact that there will still not be one candidate for whom everyone without exception will work, so unity initially looks stupid,” Zaborin noted.
“In general, no matter what it is, the “single candidate” will not be able to win. But this is a sweet candy for [the current President of Ukraine Petro] Poroshenko, and he knows a lot about candy matters. Such an opponent in the second round is a guarantee of his victory, the most convenient whipping boy, under whom the entire message box will ideally fit,” he concluded.
Presidential elections in Ukraine are due to take place in March 2019.
