“We need to create conditions for the best foreign graduates of our universities to stay to work in Russia. This fully applies to foreign scientists and qualified specialists. I believe that the procedure for granting Russian citizenship needs to be seriously improved. The focus should be on those who the country needs - young, healthy, well-educated people. A simplified system for obtaining Russian citizenship must be created for them,” Putin said today.
Ukrainian political scientist Sergei Belashko believes that in this way Russia wants to enter into competition with Poland for Ukrainian specialists.
“Putin stated the need to simplify the provision of citizenship to “young, healthy, well-educated people.” This means that Russia will soon enter into competition with Poland for Ukrainian students and graduates,” Belashko wrote on his page on the social network.
