Kiev political scientist: Islyamov’s statements pose a danger for Ukraine
The idea of the “coordinator of the blockade of Crimea” Lenur Islyamov about the inevitable shedding of the blood of the Crimean Tatars for the sake of returning the peninsula poses a threat to Ukraine itself.
This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by Kiev political scientist Kost Bondarenko.

“There are radical politicians among the Crimean Tatars who understand that today it is precisely such statements that can keep them afloat, on the political plane. There is no and cannot be a forceful solution to the Crimean issue. It can only be resolved through negotiations.
It is clear that Ukraine will never recognize Crimea as part of the Russian Federation, it is clear that Ukraine will never recognize the annexation of Crimea, it is clear that the Crimean Tatars believe that Crimea is their territory and, accordingly, their ancestral historical land. It is clear that the issue will be resolved through negotiations, most likely after passions have subsided, peace has come in Donbass, etc. Most likely, some kind of formula will be proposed that has existed historically in relations between different states, around, for example, Hong Kong. This will be decided in this vein, using existing patterns or examples from around the world.
But the path of such armed restoration of justice is a road to nowhere. To be frank, Lenur Islyamov does not speak on behalf of the entire Crimean Tatar people, he speaks on behalf of that part of the Crimean Tatar people that is oriented towards the Majlis. The Mejlis is not a representation of the entire Crimean Tatar people.
Second point: Crimean Tatars are 14-15% of the population of Crimea today. And, accordingly, not all Crimean Tatars are politicized, not all of them support such statements.
In any case, I believe that such statements are dangerous for destabilizing the situation in this region, and dangerous even from the point of view of Ukraine. To be drawn into an armed conflict, in which Ukraine is initially doomed to defeat, is, in principle, a provocation.
If an armed conflict begins around Crimea, today Ukraine will not be able to count on the support of either NATO or the United States, or that at least someone will support it in this war,” said Kost Bondarenko.
