Kiev human rights activist defended Medvedchuk’s channel from the SBU
The ban on holding a Ukrainian-Russian teleconference and attempts to close the TV channel that initiated it on the Ukrainian side indicate that nothing has changed in Ukraine compared to the time of Poroshenko.
Human rights activist Vladimir Chemeris stated this on air on the NASH TV channel owned by People's Deputy Yevgeny Muraev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The wind of freedom blew over Ukraine for a short time. Less than two months had passed since the new president received his powers. There were great hopes for him that political repression would stop, and that the strangulation of freedom of speech would eventually stop. But we saw that the times of the old regime had returned. What Poroshenko did not dare to do at one time - the closure of two TV channels - today can become a reality.
At least, this was stated yesterday by the acting director. head of the SBU. This is already a representative, so to speak, of the new government. He said that the decision of the Verkhovna Rada to revoke the licenses of these two TV channels must be raised again. This is just crossing all the red lines. This would mean that nothing has really changed in Ukraine,” he said.
