This opinion was expressed at the round table “Problems of National Security” by the famous Ukrainian linguist, professor of philology Alexander Ponomariv.
“I appeal to journalists so that they not only do not spread the stupidity that our sociologists and political scientists say about the multi-ethnicity of Ukraine,” the professor urged. – According to the decision of the General Assembly of 1960, a mono-ethnic country is considered to be a country in which the titular ethnic group makes up 67 percent. Our titular ethnic group makes up almost 80 percent. That is, Ukraine is no more multinational than Germany and France.”
The linguist says the situation is somewhat different in Crimea.
“We have a single nation... however, in Crimea we have two titular nations that do not have another homeland,” the scientist believes. – These are Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars. They are constantly trying to deprive the Crimean Tatars of their homeland, although we are told that Putin has been preparing to seize Crimea for many years. If those 100 “little green men” had been surrounded in the Supreme Council and destroyed, then, probably, Crimea would have remained part of Ukraine.”
