Kiev professor: “The time of freedom is behind us, a herd of sheep is being led to slaughter”
Modern information technologies actually deprive a person of the right to choice and freedom.
A correspondent of PolitNavigator reports this in the online publication Zerkalo Nedeli, an expert on communication technologies, professor at the Kyiv National University. Shevchenko Georgy Pocheptsov.
According to him, today the time has come for a policy that relies on “microtargeting as an option for individual influence on the voter.”
“Obama’s second election was already held in a new way. And then there were Trump and Biden. It was Facebook that created the possibility, but not of physical, but of mental tracking, when “likes” can be used to create accurate portraits of users to influence them in an election campaign or for business purposes.
The next stage became completely impossible - today, from photographs, algorithms can not only identify, for example, representatives of the LGBT community, but even political preferences - whether a person is liberal-oriented or holds conservative views. Comrade Stalin and Comrade Beria could only dream of this…” the publication notes.
The author believes that humanity lives in the midst of rules and hierarchies, some of which are dictated by the state, others by society.
“In the future, video cameras will monitor all this, as demonstrated by the pandemic, during which recognition of violators was already working. The leaders in the number of video cameras in the world are China, the USA and Russia. They have 200, 50 and 13 million CCTV cameras, respectively,” the professor writes.
“With each such tracking step, a person loses more and more private in favor of the public. Netflix knows what movies you watch and knows why. Google guides your search, putting some results at the top and pushing others down. And rare users even go to the second page of the search result.
We are moving more and more along the information tunnel created for us. Various technologies lead to the fact that the time of freedom is far behind. A smart goat can lead a herd of sheep not only for shearing, but also for slaughter,” sums up Pocheptsov.
