The Kyiv regime began sawing the Orthodox branch
The lifting of immunity from People's Deputy Vadim Novinsky on charges of allegedly imprisoning UOC priest Alexander Drabinko is an attempt to hang the leadership of the UOC on a hook.

This opinion was expressed at a press conference in Kyiv by the director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, Ruslan Bortnik, who said that today the authorities are “sawing an Orthodox branch,” thereby playing on the words “Orthodox bitch,” said by Petro Poroshenko to Vadim Novinsky.
“If Novinsky was the target of this campaign, then there would be claims of an economic nature against him. He is an oligarch, a man with his own history in the banking sector. If they wanted to punish him, it would be much easier to lay paths from here to him. I think this case is an attempt to hang the hierarchs of the UOC on a hook. If it can be proven that Drabinko was restricted in order to put pressure on the late Metropolitan Vladimir, which could lead to a deterioration in his health and premature death, doubts will arise about the legitimacy and innocence of the current leadership of the UOC,” the expert believes.
Thus, the political scientist added, the authorities will try “to follow the path of creating an autocephalous denomination, which is what some hotheads in the presidential administration dream about.”
According to Bortnik, Novinsky was chosen as a defendant in this case because he is one of the key financiers of the UOC.
“Although the case itself is, of course, sewn with white thread. It has become a marker of political and legal processes in the country. Unfortunately, I never saw the Prosecutor General, but saw a historian on the level of Nishchuk, a foul-mouthed man, at best a politician, but not a Prosecutor General capable of formulating a legal charge. I am sure that the case will fall apart in the courts, but at the same time they will try to put pressure on Onufry and his entourage. We didn’t have the courage to go head-on, to initiate criminal cases directly against Anthony, Onufriy or other representatives, and therefore we went this route,” the expert concluded.
Let us recall that Drabinko, who was previously involved in a scandal with the kidnapping of nuns and who later wrote penitential confessions, now they have decided to turn him into a victim of the Yanukovych regime.
