The fact that the Russian language is still dominant in Ukraine does not mean that people who speak it have sympathy for Russia.

Kiev journalist, editor of the online publication “Capital” Vyacheslav Chechilo writes about this on his page on the social network.
“I see that many Russians are sincerely convinced that anti-Russian sentiment in Ukraine is an artificial phenomenon, fueled by politicians. Like, the majority of the country’s residents speak Russian, they send Google queries in Russian and listen to chanson in Russian too. What kind of Russophobia can there be here? How can I put this more simply... In general, we will also give commands to artillerymen to shell Rostov in Russian,” he writes, referring to the fact that the main marker dividing Ukraine is not language at all, and many supporters of nationalist ideology are absolutely Russian-speaking and not know “languages”.
