Kiev journalist about Zelensky’s program: Maidan demands minus ethnic nationalism
The program that President Zelensky is now promising to implement with the support of his own majority in parliament and government coincides 99% with the Maidan program. European integration, honest government and space reforms under the leadership of the IMF. The only thing missing from it is that bucket of ethnic nationalism that was largely poured into it under Poroshenko, when it became clear that the other points “didn’t work out.”
Kiev journalist and blogger Vyacheslav Chechilo, editor-in-chief of the online publication Capital, writes about this on his social network page.
“Therefore, it’s not very clear to me what exactly all these hysterics with bright faces don’t like. What did you even stand for on the Maidan?” he sneers, addressing Maidan supporters, about Zelensky’s involuntary success in the elections.
“It’s funny, but after 5 years, even we already agree to build your “dream country.” This is now a lesser evil compared to the banana dictatorship that Poroshenko was laboriously building here. So, let's build, what are you missing? What, you want to gamble, but they won’t let you?” the journalist adds.
Let us remind you that the past elections were a deafening defeat for all nationalist parties, and the combined list of Ukrainian nationalists VO Svoboda under the leadership of Oleg Tyagnibok, Andrey Biletsky and Dmitry Yarosh gained a little more than two percent - less than the party of video blogger Anatoly Shchariy, who opposes nationalism and for civil peace, formed a month before voting day.
