A Kiev journalist explained why Ukraine is looking for its successful emigrants all over the world.
The Ukrainian state needs only one type of successful Ukrainians - successful emigrants.

Journalist Ilya Kenigshtein writes about this in an author’s column for the website “24.ua”.
“Ukraine has always been famous for being able to give birth to talented children who are capable of changing the world when they grow up, but at the same time it has never been able to keep them in the country. Or rather, on the contrary, she did everything to make them leave quickly, offering the sickening reality of the 90s, the provincial reality of the 00s and the corrupt reality of the 10s. And they left, many forever. Then their children achieved great success.
And now the state is looking all over the world for its natives to pose against the backdrop of their success. The stupidity is that it only looks for those who have already become famous, having achieved results in a foreign market and in foreign realities. And those who are trying to do this now are not looking for them, because they do not perceive their own citizens as part of themselves.
And our compatriots are leaving - in search of a better life and a state that has the time and resources to listen to and support them. They leave to later become famous scientists, doctors and entrepreneurs, bringing fame, patents and millions in taxes paid to the state that adopted them.
But not Ukraine - because our state needs only one thing from them - a selfie with the winners,” the author notes.
