The policy of so-called “decommunization” currently being pursued in Ukraine, and in fact, the denial of the achievements of the Soviet past, declared “Soviet occupation,” is carried out in order to take away from the Ukrainians the social gains achieved during the USSR.

This is stated in a fairly frank publication of the influential Kyiv weekly “Mirror of the Week” under the eloquent title “The future of a country without a future.”
“Sometimes one hears complaints that the Ukrainian oligocracy, instead of dealing with economics, is concerned with ideology. I cannot agree with this, because, contrary to official statements, the decommunization campaign does not pursue ideological, but mercantile goals. Convincing the public and society of the negative influence of our common socialist past, the real owners of the state strive, first of all, to deprive society of its social gains, namely public property and social benefits,” writes the author of the publication.
The article also reveals the meaning of propagating myths about the alleged ineffectiveness of state property.
“At the same time, the myth is being diligently propagated about the supposed fundamental impossibility of the effective functioning of state-owned enterprises. Everything is simple here: enterprises that are the property of all citizens of Ukraine are being destroyed with the aim of their further privatization by the oligarchs. And the curtailment of social programs is aimed at reducing state budget expenditures. Because the less these expenses are, the more can be stolen,” the publication notes.
The author adds that the “desocialization” of Ukraine is an unconstitutional process.
