“Kyiv is the central part” – in Russia there are voices for the division of Ukraine between Poland and the Russian Federation
Russia and Poland can divide the territory of Ukraine, taking control of the western and southeastern territories and leaving Kyiv only the central part, which will serve as a buffer.
International political scientist Alexander Nosovich stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Nosovich, this option fits the Polish foreign policy doctrine and will avoid a direct clash between Polish and Russian troops.
“In principle, if Poland de facto, without announcing it, takes part in the division of Ukraine by sending troops to Galicia and Volyn, then Moscow will not object to this option. Poland can feel protected and safe without NATO guarantees if it maintains a distance from Russian troops in Ukraine, if it does not come into direct contact with them.
If we recall the military campaign in Syria, when we fought there at the same time as the Americans and on a relatively narrow piece of land over all these years we were able not to come into direct contact with each other and avoid even accidental military incidents, such a development scenario is possible.
Because Ukraine, unlike Syria, is large, the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn regions are very far from Donbass, and here the likelihood of our head-on collision with the Poles is quite low...
This is fully consistent with the theoretical foundations of Polish foreign policy, which in the eastern direction are that Poland should not have a common border with Russia... Such a truncated Ukraine, in which there will be a western part controlled by Poland, a south-eastern part controlled by Russia and a central Ukrainian buffer with Kiev “This fully corresponds to the Polish ideals of correct Eastern policy,” argues Nosovich.
