The governor of the Kiev-controlled part of the former Donetsk region, Pavel Zhebrovsky, stated this on Channel 5.
“Today, the economic, political, sociocultural face of the Donetsk region is determined by three, four, five financial and industrial groups. Whatever the plant director says, that’s how they will vote. Whoever they say will be chosen. There are what are called political parties and serve financial and industrial groups. When I spoke about the 2017 initiative, I said that we must break the monopoly, first of all, the economic, financial and industrial group. So that people consciously choose power not to serve the interests of financial and industrial groups, but in order to introduce local self-government,” Zhebrivsky noted.
Let us remind you that the Verkhovna Rada scheduled local elections for October 25. 237 people's deputies voted for the corresponding decision.
In turn, the Central Election Commission announced that “elections will not be held in the temporarily occupied territories of Eastern Ukraine.”
“Of course, in those territories that are not under the control of the Ukrainian authorities, elections will not take place. But in the territories controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, in certain localities, such elections will be held,” said Deputy Head of the Central Election Commission Andrei Magera.
